Starting a ritual of tending to a peaceful addition to the home
I was taking the time out to admire the plants in the gardening section of a grocery store, the spring came around and I was walking through all the saplings in small pots for people to buy for their house or garden. I thought it would be nice to have a plant for myself. I saw a tomato plant sapling for roma tomatoes in a small pot for around $3.00 and purchased it. I had heard tomato plants could be introduced to a pot not just grown in a large garden bed in a backyard. So I bought a medium-sized gardening pot for $5.00 with a saucer to catch the water for $2.50. I also bought potting soil for $4.50 and took it home with me The sapling pot was biodegradable and could be planted in the potting soil so I took my small shovel and planted it in the pot. I watered it all during the spring into mid summer and wasn't expecting to see much happen but I knew growing vegetables could take time and depended on when you planted them in the season. I came outside one day to find that the tomato plant was doing well and began to sprout blossoms. I knew if I left it outside the bees might pollinate it and the flowers could lead to tomatoes. During the late summer, I checked the tomato plant and saw green tomatoes were there and some were even pretty large. Knowing I might be able to bring them in for the winter I was so elated to find the tomatoes could grow in a pot with my success. I was excited to learn that I could also manage growing tomatoes affordably and with a simple solution.
