Reaching a creative and very delightfully stimulating place during the day

Recently, while going through some papers, I noticed a folder containing old sketches from high school and grade school. This reminder of my past inspired me to try sketching again at this point in my life, and I thought it might be just as enjoyable—if not more—than before. I did a little research on the benefits of sketching and realized that it is a very stimulating experience for the mind and could be an interesting pastime, whether or not I was still good at it. I looked online for a good sketchbook and found one for around $15.00. I also picked up a mechanical pencil from the dollar store for about $2.50, which is great for paying attention to detail, and lead refills for about $1.50. When I was ready, I took some time one day in the recreation room and began sketching a picture I found online. I made small additions to the sketch to make it my own piece. I sat in silence, sketching for about five minutes, and soon felt a rush of creative energy. It was a pleasant experience—even in such a short time, I felt more alert and aware of my surroundings, almost as if I had awakened to a delightful experience. I savored the quality time spent trying to sketch the picture, which inspired me to keep going. After 15 to 20 minutes, I stopped drawing and felt relieved that I had expressed and released pent-up thoughts and emotions. I felt a little more inspired to take on the day and appreciate it more. Unlike when I was younger and needed support and motivation to sketch, I was excited to seize this opportunity, which turned out not to cost much to reach a creative state of thought. The simple act of expressing myself on sketch paper was a very moving experience in a positive way. I am excited to have sketching as a pastime to turn to in the future and to know it is a pleasing and affordable way to express myself.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

After university, for a medical course studying the nervous system, I ended up being bedridden in a manageable but life-changing hospital situation. I found myself needing to leave my busy life and appreciate taking time out to do the things I love like reading and writing. I learned to appreciate these things and came across the situation where I would love to blog about the small things that can make your day that much brighter especially when you take the time out for them.
